I love this place and have always been treated like family when I visit. I have 3 bikes from here and they are all routinely serviced here. As I have said in the past, the best part of Rick's is the repair department. When something on my bike breaks, they don't just suggest a new part at a retail price, they offer to ACTUALLY FIX the broken part (if they can). This is the old fashioned skill-set of a mechanic, not a "bolt-on new parts" guy.
A genuine and original bike shop, owned and operated by true bicycle enthusiasts who have been in the business for decades supporting all types of biking and all types of bikers. This is not a shop for those looking for the big box, customer is always right, kiss your a$$ salesman approach. Rather, the folks here are truly skilled, filled with knowledge of today's bike technology as well as bike info from 30-40 years ago, and are very personable, sometimes in an amusing way even. It's a small town, family like atmosphere, where everyone knows everyone within the local biking community. They also work hard to support the needs of seasonal tourist there for the weekend or the desperate French Canadian on his way to NYC with a busted single-wall rim from a 60's era bike at 4:40 on a Sunday afternoon, keeping the shop open late to tend to a biker's needs. Lastly, they also have a superior inventory of bikes and bike parts, which is very handy when an odd ball part breaks on your bike or needs repair.
Great service at a fair price! Always reliable! Will give it to you straight if [Part] Needs replacement or not.
Fred is wizard with bicycle repair! Walked in at 4:30 with a flat, walked out at 5:30 with a re-built back-end for a very reasonable price. Fred took the time to diagnose what caused the flat, kept finding more issues, including a broken axle. He found a suitable replacement axle, tuned the brakes and put in new brake-pads, straightened the handlebars, tighten the brake handles, and found the holes in both inner tube AND tire. This TREK is as good as new again. Feel so lucky to have found Fred, Dave, and Bob in this shop. Their passion for mechanical parts and fixing bikes is unparalleled.
Bent the rim on my bike while traveling. Found Rick's bike shop by chance and was extremely satisfied with their professional same day service. I did not think the rim could be repaired but they were able to straighten it. They also offered a tremendous selection of accessories I hadn't found in my local bike shop. I can't speak more highly of them.
