Needs an update, facilities are a little run down. Right beside the interstate so it can be pretty noisy all night if you are in a tent.
Went camping there and fishing doring the day at night time the whole place came off the chain rowdy l got drunk to and was amazed had a wild time we had to go the next day. We book it for thee days did not get are money but we where not the only ones that had to leve most of place had to go.
If I could rate this campground less than 1 star I would. Their customer service is terrible and the campsites are overgrown with half-dead trees in which happened to fall and destroy our tent and car 2 hours after we checked in. We are experienced campers and have dealt with our fair share of bad weather. This severe weather was not anticipated and being from 3.5 hours away, you would think the camp staff may have mentioned it was headed our way. They are refusing to refund our money. I understand the policies, but for severe instances, I feel there could be better customer satisfaction. I can guarantee we will NEVER stay at this campground again.
Please, please, please save yourselves the disappointment and DO NOT stay here!!!
We had reserved in advance and booked other friends as well coming. The people were not very polite or informative. The campsite was booked but when we drove in someone was already on our spot. We had to choose another one. The bathrooms were disgusting. 4 of toilets 5 mens toilets were blocked. It was dirty. The campsites are not level and dirt no grass. We asked before they said some spots have grass but not one spot had. The roots were popped up everywhere making it hard to put a tent or trailer on the sites. The grounds are right by the highway so you hear that all night. They are over priced. The only positive thing is they are within walking distance of Walmart and The Great Escapes. Wouldn't recommend this campsite. They didn't even have a sign to indicate their lodging.
Enjoyed staying here for the most part, wasn't busy at all.
The front staff (Liz) had trouble finding my check-in information. Finally found it and gave us our site number and map. As we approached the site and parked we noted the extremely small wobbly picnic table in which some boards were replaced and the sawdust left in a pile. The table was not even connected underneath. I had to walk back to the main office to request a new table. That was the only good thing, they brought a new one within 20 minutes. The fire pit, which we were never able to use, was dug down about 18 inches, it would have taken 2 bundles of wood to build it up. I could go on, but I hope everyone gets the jist of how terrible Lake George Campsites actually is.
Cons:
Large tent sites. Friendly staff. Close to lake George. Walking distance to great escape. Inexpensive.
Facilities were clean but maybe not the best maintenance. For example one toilet instead of a matching top had a piece if painted wood.
